put them on

Your mix is two things at once: the surface, everything held and pretty, and the message underneath, the hits and the grit. Hold GLASSES and the surface drains away, the message comes forward, stark. Wear them too long and the headache comes.
Turn a knob: drag it or tap either side of it, roll the wheel over it or use the arrow keys; a double click puts it back. GLASSES is a button: hold it down to wear them, then let go. The patches step on by themselves until you touch anything.

Everything SHADES does here is its engine as designed, running in your browser. The loop is a stand-in rack.
SHADES hears every moment of the mix at once, pitch by pitch, and splits it by what each part is doing: what holds is the surface, what jumps up across the whole spectrum together is the message. It isn't a cut in time, so a chord ringing under a snare is pulled apart from the snare in the same instant, and the two always add back up to the input.
Every out is 21 ms late: that's how long it takes to hear what's held.
